The Outbreak at Kirrak House took another positive step forward this week with the second round of COVID-19 tests of all residents and staff declared negative.

As the Bass Coast community heed the call to get tested for COVID-19, Bass Coast Health is proud to partner with Monash Health Pathology to turnaround results quickly.

This Wound Awareness Week, Bass Coast Health is urging people not to suffer from chronic wounds in silence. Chronic wounds can include pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers and leg ulcers, but treatment is always available.

All residents and staff from Kirrak House were tested last week for COVID-19 following contact with an agency nurse who tested positive. Thanks to swift work by the Bass Coast Health team and our pathology partner Monash Health, Bass Coast Health has received negative test results for all residents and staff.

Bass Coast Health’s Kirrak House Residential Aged Care home in Wonthaggi, received notification that an agency staff member who was recruited by Bass Coast Health on a long-term contract, had returned a positive COVID-19 test result, three days after their most recent shift.

The big reason COVID-19 is so contagious is actually small. The disease spreads mainly from person to person via tiny droplets of moisture that are expelled from the nose or mouth of infected people when they cough, sneeze or speak.

Bass Coast Health has expanded its drive-through testing service at Wonthaggi Hospital as part of Victoria’s campaign to control the COVID-19 Pandemic.

A strong collaborative approach by the South Coast Gippsland Partnership; Bass Coast Health, (BCH) Gippsland Southern Health Service (GSHS), South Gippsland Hospital (SGH) and Koo We Rup Hospital (KRHS), is continuing to support safe patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday 27th May, the newly established Inverloch Auxiliary and Bass Coast Health (BCH) signed a Memorandum Of Understanding outlining the partnership and actions required to facilitate fundraising for the BCH Integrated Cancer Unit.
